Hiking paths in and around Maishofen
Hiking between mighty peaks and gentle hills
From the summits of 3,000 m peaks, the ice of glaciers glistens even at the height of summer. Enjoy the magnificent alpine panorama during a hike to one of our easily reachable mountain huts, where you will be treated to a delicious snack, perhaps accompanied by a shot of homemade schnapps. Maishofen is located in a wide valley basin. So, those preferring to do their walking on a more level surface will find destinations just as rewarding as those found higher up in the mountains.Weekly guided hikes are organized in the months from June to September. In addition, in August we also offer a “Music Hike” up to the Kammereggalm where, after your leisurely walk, a folk-music group will perform for you as you enjoy a hearty snack.
Hiking boots and rainwear are (always!) required. In the mountains, the weather can change suddenly and drastically. Head covering, sunscreen, and sunglasses are very important. Always bring a backpack (it’s best if everyone brings one so that a single individual doesn’t have to carry too much – in families, especially) and a little something to eat. You should also bring along plenty to drink. Make sure the drinks aren’t too sweet, because that will only make you more thirsty. Enjoy breakfast as usual, though perhaps eat a little less... instead, bring something to snack on along the way.

Use your Maishofen Hiking Pass to earn the Golden Hiking Pin. And how do you do that? Pick out your favorite tour from our hiking map and choose one of our “hiking points” as your refreshment stop every day. When you have earned a total of 20 hiking points, you can obtain the hiking pin at the tourist office for free with your “Maishofen Guest Pass” or for € 4.50.
